Disposal by Incineration (KPI-10)

Averages

Intervening Variables

Monthly Trend Since 2023

Yearly Trends

  • Performance largely dependent on methodology of re-sorting – low whenever all combustable waste are designated as an Alternate Fuel Resource (AFR) to be used for energy capture – high when unsaleable plastics alone are designated as AFR – and the rest, such as textile waste, soiled unsaleable paper, and such – that can be safely subjected to closed high-temperature burning is disposed off onsite.

Six Month Trend

  • The high peak during April was due to increased waste generation due to tourist influx.
  • The subsequent decrease observed over the next two months was due to countermeasures taken by composting paper deemed unfit for recycling rather than disposal by burning.

31-Day Trend

  • Trend has stabilised at 45% – peaks on Sundays to be ignored as they are due to denominator issues and do not reflect on the correct picture.
  • Peaks other than on Sundays chiefly due to total power shutdown, particularly on the 16th & 18th of July
