“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”

Theodore Roosevelt Jr.

Wise words by a cavalryman, statesman, politician, conservationist, naturalist, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States.

Three weeks after initiation of the cleaning of the Upper Stream of the Coonoor River, we at Clean Coonoor are happy to state that we are halfway there.

A nearly 350 metre stretch extending from the Coonoor Bridge to MGR Nagar is now free of silt and debris to the tune of around 5 kilo tonnes.

After

We take this opportunity to thank all who believed that we could, and that is the reason as to why we have progressed to this extent.

All that remains to complete is a small bit of around 300 metres.

The remaining bit

We expect to complete the operations in another 10 days or so, before moving downstream into the main river after the monsoon.

As a new strategy to keep the town clean and create awareness on littering, Clean Coonoor has started Neighbourhood Cleanups.

Read our recent post about this initiative on our Home Page for more details, and please do contact for organising such an activity in your neighbourhood..
