518 cubic meters of landfill space spared ; 2 million litres of water saved ; 1.65 lakh litres of petroleum conserved ; and 1,100 trees prevented from being axed
This is no empty boast on the part of the Coonoor Municipal Corporation and Clean Coonoor. As on this World Environment Day, the theme of which is, ‘Time for Nature,’ with a focus on its role in providing the essential infrastructure that supports life on Earth and human development ; we have over the last 7 months, managed to sort and recycle, some 64 tonnes of plastic and 66 tonnes of paper, from a total trash load of 411 tonnes.
